We heard this Gap frequenter had a nasty run-in with an RV turning left onto Hwy 72.

Hope you heal up well!

Thats my best friend Ally! We had a great time at the Gap the day before but the next day heading back though a crazy huge a$$ rv decided to just turn into her and not stop and ran over her. Her progress went from life support to sitting up and talking now! She is suffering from a broken back, shattered pelvic, shattered ankle, shattered leg which is so bad she has to go into surgery every other day to try and save it! But she is in great spirits!

What happened to the RV driver re: fault, police, citation, jail, etc.? Anyone know. Glad to hear about the positive attitude, goes a long long way to healing faster.

Wow, hate to hear that. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. And I truly hope the RV driver got cited for it.

i hope that motherfucker is in jail for it...ran her over?? i stopped for gas right there on my way out and the lady at the station said the driver was completely on the opposite side of the road...how true that is i dont know...but the farther on the wrong side he is the more jail time he deserves in my opinion...sorry about the negativity...godspeed on a full recovery and hope your able to get back on two wheels again

I didnt see what they did to him but on our way to the hospital I saw him on 411 going back west! If he was already turning west on 72 why the hell and hour later did we see him heading west on 411! The mother fucker was lost and was able to drive away! I heard later that day that he was running bikes off the road earlier! He had no reason being on the road let alone in that long of an rv down that road! He did run over her. If the bikers at Punkin center didnt stop him he would have ran over her head and not just her body! There was rubber on her helmet from the back tire hitting it.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I am sort of conflicted since I both RV and ride a bike. As a rider I know that I share the road with idiots, and worse the oblivious. Regardless of the circumstances, I accept a full share of responsibility for the predicaments I find myself in as a rider. As an RVr I have to say that I know I share the road with bikes. I know that when I am pulling my 30' fifth wheel that I am a nuisance to those that want to go faster. I know that I have to swing wide to take some corners and that maintaining my own lane is not always possible, or within my skill set depending on the road that I find myself on

. Worse I know that when I am RV-ing other drivers and riders need to take extra precautions around me. This means you cannot expect me to stop as quickly, accelerate as quickly, or see to the sides of my trailer as easily as I can with a normal vehicle. For example, there are blind spots that are real hard to compensate for. With this said I have never met an RVr that wanted to run anybody over. I am sure that all involved are either hospitalized, shaken to their core, or both for their part in this. I wish all involved a speedy recovery.

I agree with people having to watch out for trailers but he turned on the wrong side of the road. If he would have pulled up and turned where he was supposed to he would have seen around the corner all the traffic. But he did not stop at all turning left. He said to the officer "there is not a stop sign I dont have to stop!" If you are going North on a road and want to turn west, you have to stop to oncoming traffic(DUH)! This guy was old and did not know what he was doing let alone driving an RV that big. If you do not know the laws of the streets you should not be on them! And after you hit something you should stop! People had to run infront of the RV to get him to stop or he would have kept going! We had a toy hauler down there with us so I am not saying this about all big vehicles but the people that operate them!

Well, you know how it is... Everybody makes mistakes. I believe this one is mine and that the driver of the RV probably needs to get re-evaluated for driving privilages based on his actions. "Under no circumstance do you have the rideaway over oncoming traffic" that I am aware of. But to my earlier post. He is probably one of the idiots I mentioned earlier, you have to watch out for them. Any car in an intersection is a potential accident, waiting to happen in my book.

Most rv drivers are old retired people that should not be operating a car, must less a rv.Must have been a know it all old yankee mofo.

I think Ally would be better served by stopping the blame game and praying that she heals without any limitation to her mobility.

God Speed Ally I am pulling for you and wish you the best!

Uhm . . . Ally's not playing any blame game . . .

She can't even get on here to say anything because she's too busy trying to heal from all this.

No one said she was.
