My thought exactly Dave. Could give new meaning to 'skid plate'. At least he's giving the folks a heads up about the truck.
I wonder if that's actual diamond plate or just some graphic. Because the real deal if frickin' HEAVY. Like add 50 lbs. or more to your bike heavy. Forget that.

1/8 alum plate wouldn't weigh that much more than stock plastics, but would still look gay.

BTW, he usually wears full gear. He was probably sitting somewhere chatting when the semi started to approach, so he jumped on the bike to get out in front of it without having time to gear up.
