Tennessee's War on Tourism continues...

Yeah I got one today on the hill... I wasn't going but around 35 or so and the next thing I know I hear one of the two THP guys yell "48!!!! Get him!!!" and he ran out in the road. I was looking around thinking "Are you serious?" I told him that there was no way that I was going 48 because I knew they were there. I had just saw them, and I wasn't a moron, but they wrote me the ticket anyway. While I was sitting there I heard a bike coming from a little way up the road. I heard him down shift and then putting along at what he thought was a safe speed, when I heard the cop go "64!!! Get him!!! Get him!!!!!" There was no way he was going 64 anymore than I was going 48. After that we went home.

I'll say it again - Bring your recording equipment! If they are going to break their own laws, and invent infractions on-the-spot, record them and file a criminal complaint. This has gotten ridiculous.

Anyone who doesn't fight these tickets is directly funding this corruption. If you need advice or representation, call attorney Chris Oldham in Knoxville at 865-934-0753. You also have the right to request all evidence that will be used against you to prepare your court case, so do it! Maybe we'll see another spectacular piece of cinema like the last time.

I have stayed away to avoid the ticket but I hope all those that received tickets fight. Make it cost the state as much as possible to collect your money.

Maybe they have radar setup down the road before the spot where they are yanking people. I.E they may have clocked the guy going 64 before his down shifting and "putting" along.

Never been down there, but as it stands I'm not really chomping to get there in spite of generally being one that follow "the rules" reasonably.

I only had time for a few citations called out but it looked to me like they were only going after lane crossers, and letting the speeding bikes that stayed in their lane go. Sounds good to me!

Unfortunately for those of us 9 hours away from the ToTD, I can't afford to come back to fight a ticket. I MAY sneak up there to say "Hi" next weekend but I can't afford to get caught up in any of this. I'm as legal as it gets, but scared to go there. Look for the Hello Kitty CBR600F3 next weekend, I'll be on the Hayabusa right behind her!

I finally brought my recording equipment, and RADAR detector:

Cobras versus Cops on the Dragon
Music by Bottle Rockets: Radar Gun
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7897701284152020417

At least 13 cops, with 2 THP bikers at Toll Booth, but a cruiser still got bitchsmacked by Gravity Cavity.

What's with the cruisers and tourers parked in the road? Is that a new bad habit now that sportbikes are banned?

Where do BCSO deputies go when they drive past the store, deep into NC? I've seen several do that in the past couple of months.

Hey ya'll from Indiana...we WERE planning another trip down, but since all the trouble caused by the LEO's, we've decided another state can use our hotel, gas and food money.

Nothing personal...Kentucky, eastern Ohio, southern Indiana all have some great roads and far less hassle.

We'll be back as soon as the "state" gets it...we have also written some letters to the Gov letting him know the same thing.

Wow, just watched some of the video, so let me get this right, it's only illegal for mototcycles to cross the "dubble-yeller lahn" in Tenn.?

The number of four wheeled vehicles that crossed the was rather numerous, and I heard nothing from the "Law Enforcement Officer" about them.

We definately won't ever be back to anywhere in TN due to this level of LEO harrassment. Just out of respect for our riding brothers and sisters. Sorry for the local business losses, but no ones holding a gun to their heads to stay in that pathetic state, so perhaps they can find other places to do business. Good luck up there. Florida always has room for a few more biker friends to cruise the beaches of Daytona or the historic places inland.

Just get your whiney butts down there and ride. You usually have several hours in the AM and again in the PM. And there sho'nuff plenty of other roads in the area (in NC) worth riding.

Wow..that video brings back some memories.

I was one of the ones caught in that video and have not been back down there since. We were all written up for "Drag Racing". Such a shame what is going on down there now. I was thinking of finally making a trip back down, but am scared of even being seen on a two wheeled machine. :(

Based on the Video posted by Killboy, The COPS are setting up down the road and calling out "infractions" to another one down the road, so when you get stopped you may not have been doing anything at that very moment, but might have been a few miles back, That is not corruption of any sort other than you broke the law when you thought no one was looking.

Killboy needs to post on the website the name, address of the people we can send letters to protesting the Police coverage in the area.
