Weekly Update - August 15, 2007
All photos from last week are in Tha Store here.
Still a lot of police presence, still a lot of silly tickets for trivial infractions, but much less attitude at least. Keep an eye on Tail of the Dragon's website and the Deals Gap website for more timely updates about the situation, and keep in mind that each of us are doing all we can to protect EVERYONE's freedom to enjoy the roads we have a right to.
There is also a pretty nasty trail of oil in the (mostly) southbound lane all the way from Robbinsville to the lakes past Tabcat, so y'all be careful out there.
On to the highlights!

KB - Been keeping up-to-date with Killboy.com for cop warnings, so many thanks! I came up Saturday for the 3rd time this year, and I almost did not recognize the Dragon. Cops every 2 miles, geez!
Drove from Maryville, to Santeelah and back. From Santeelah returning north there was not another car behind me until I was about 1 mile from US411. Very spooky to see the road that empty on such a beautiful day!
Anyway, thanks for the great pics (bought mine!) and keep up the good work!
...and how pleasant to see the road that empty on such a beautiful day! ! ! Quit whining you bunch of cheese eaters. The cops are out there DOING THERE JOBS and ENFORCING THE LAW. News flash fools, US 129 is a public highway and not the private playground of poser sportbike riders in their little sissy boy leather jumpsuits (S&M anyone?). Ride elsewhere chumps. Neither you nor your trifling tourist dollars will be missed in Tennessee.
I'll not throw jabs, but I'll agree with some sentiments; the local law boys aren't working 129 because they don't have anything else to do. All the thanks for their attention (sadly, most of it needed) can be given to the large number of wreckless riders AND drivers who: A)Don't know their limit, B)Can't ride/drive 11 miles without breaking the law 318 times, C)Choose not to stay in their lane, D)Adds to the Tenn highway injury/death ratio, or E)Smart-off and give a law officer a bunch of verbal #%&!. Feel wronged about a ticket? Fight it in court. Make the law guy madder than imagionable (whether he's right or wrong) and he'll not miss one future day of "Dragon Duty" for anything, and will NEVER let a 'borderline call' go again. Attention always goes where it's requested. Watch the police video in the above link Darryl provided, ...any questions? Riding our great roads is not a freedom, it's a privilege. I don't like any vehicle, operated by anybody, wearing anything, that foolishly puts me at risk for just meeting them on the same road...no different than driving drunk, or high, or talking on a cell phone, (don't let me get started on that one!)It's the riders & drivers that brought the law scrutiny to 129 that's kept me away....but that's just me.
