Weekly Update - June 14, 2006
Photos from last week (and previous) are available online our store here.
Once again the Interstate 3 proposition is making the news rounds. If you haven't already done so, but sure to stop by the Stop I-3 Coalition, sign the petition, and do whatever else you can to spread the word...that is if you enjoy this area of the country.
This weekend we may see some NCHP action, so be careful on that side of the border.
There is a lot happening, R1 and R6 rallies, complete with Speed TV and 2 Wheel Tuner magazine, Kawi ZX6E and Ford Contour groups are doing their thing too. Then there's also the Cherohala Challenge bicycle ride this Saturday, with riders leaving from Tellico, coming across the Dragon, then around to the Cherohala Skyway and across that. Preposterous!

+1 you are right 1157. Perhaps the other side of the coin would be, how come the fast way around a Stupid Usless Vehicle is alway the right hand lane? I know there are no passing zones on the dragon but it still works out the same as far as the attitude of the SUV. pyqo
"BUILT FOR SCENERY"....BULL...serenety and scenery can be enjoyed at many levels of speed. It was built as a connector of two parts of this area divided by a mountain range. Racing is Wrong...the posted speed limit is also wrong. Just because a blue haired person can't react as good as some is no reason to limit the masses who use that area to rediculous speeds. Or the guy who thinks he's cool trying to keep you from passing him in safe area and slowing down when he knows you can't pass. Sport bikes have as much right to enjoy the roads as the person who does not speed, but for most...it is not as enjoyable at 25mph on a bike. Limiting the speed will not MAKE a biker slow down....it will not Make a biker safer.....His ability to use GOOD judgement does. Enforcing speed limits Makes revenue.
I rode The Cherohala Challange on Sat 6-17-2006. Did the motorcycles bother me, no. They were doing what I was doing, what they love to do only I was on a bicycle.
As a matter of fact I even witnessed a few of them doing the speed limit how do I know this? I passed them. Yes some were going fast but hey they pay taxes too ya know. If they get caught they pay the fine,If they get killed riding like that well that is bad but they knew the risk, so did I on my bike at 52 MPH. But what a rush!
I hope no one gets injured there especially someone in a car hit by a motorcycle, boy we would hear about that for sure. I would love to ride a motorcycle there but trust me do it on a bicycle if you really want a thrill.
Blackbear your right but it goes both ways. If a car gets behind you and your on a motorcycle or another car please pull over. You have no ide how many people pass me on motorcycles when I leave the store yet as soon as my tires get warm about 1 mile I am right on their ass and they don't pull over. Or better yet they try and outrun me... like that will happen... people just need to go to wal-mart and buy some commonsense and it would fix 99% of the problems drivers.
