Good to see a trucks still using a legal US highway.

When are the haters going to start writing to the US DOT instead of crying on the internet to change the roads size limits. NC or TN DOT have no say on vehicle size using the dragon.

^^^^Yea, it is great to see a truck out there killing people. They can get to there destination much safer on another road just as fast.

Yes, the correct place is to go to the US DOT but the Tn and NC DOTs routinely communicate with the feds so the words to the state levels are not wasted.

A word to the local US Reps and Senators would help as well.

Trucks don't kill bikers, over confident, thinking they own the road bikers kill themselves.

I saw him going up around 9:00 am on Friday morning. I heard it 2.5 hours for him to get to the other side.

Nice short cut!

There are highways all over the country with truck restrictions. I can't think of a higher need for truck restrictions than US 129 in this section. Sorry Mark, they just shouldn't be allowed on this road. Now that there has been the required blood sacrifice, it's time to put the restrictions in place.

As far as bikers killing themselves, I agree to some extent. Riders using this section of road as their personal race track are not leaving themselves a way out. This tragedy (and I'll be criticized for saying this) could have been avoided if the rider had been traveling at a more reasonable speed and left himself a way out. He shares in the responsibility for this tragedy. Of course, the truck shouldn't have been there in the first place. The truck shouldn't have been over the line. Sadly, the biker didn't leave himself a way out.

I do believe that trucks should be restricted on the dragon, but until US DOT makes a ruling, the dragon is open to truck traffic.

Trucks being on the dragon is the fault of US DOT, it's their job to make sure the roads are legally passable to each class of vehicle.

Which administration within the US DOT would this be covered under? Is it the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin or the Federal Highway Admin?

It is that wording right there that they will use to straighten the road. Careful what you wish for.

The national Vehicle Size and Weight Team, a part of the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) Office of Freight Management and Operations, oversees state enforcement of heavy truck and bus size and weight standards in the United States.

As long as they stay in their lane they are ok. Bring any size truck you want. The law is the law and the yellow line says don't cross me.

At the very least they should have a fore and aft escort.
