USN T-45a Goshawk Trainers
BR 549, Hee Haw.
Those are probably T-1A Jayhawks out of the USAF base at Columbus, MS.
Nephew trained there and flew over the smokies all the time. Wings aren't swept enough for the navy trainers.
MikeJ has it right. The T-1 has a t-tail, and the engines are mounted on the empennage.
