Hopefully he puts 4-off on the cliff before he puts that piece of scrap into someone in oncoming.

Is there ever a week when this doesn't happen?

You would think most Dragon Slayers would know of Killboy and the rules of the road by now. Unfortunately, you would be wrong. There are idiots in the area every week, and this is one of the bigger IDIOTS!

They bought a Subaru Imprezza... apparently they thought they were race certified or Rally approved. Just another blue, bumble bee with downsyndrom sounding exhaust driving like an asshat.

Subaru shame... Making us all look bad.

Honestly, how do you blow the corner so badly you end-up so far in the other lane?

They were "setting up" for the next turn. Comically, the ones who do this are generally new and very slow.

After looking at this site for the past 2-3 years, I am convinced of one thing: it's not worth riding with so many people styling and/or racing on it. The conglomeration of people who simply don't know what they are doing in one place at the same time just turns me off. Skyway seems more pleasant; hairpins are no problem when you take them seriously. Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road and some places I don't even know the names of but have ridden are awesome when alone or with people you trust. Okay, start the rip. Yeah, I ride a cruiser and just don't know a thing about turns...

3up3down,

Nothing wrong with what you say. I've ridden this road since the seventies & have been blessed to never encounter one of these asshats or a tractor trailer. That clod is not the norm, but they do obviously exist. If it's not worth the risk to you, that's fine. But I'll keep going back.

There is a lot of truth in what 3up3down wrote. My son, who rides with me, is a far better rider than I am, and he too now rides the Dragon only when I insist. He believes the nuts and loons are winning.

If you're staying on the mayo & looking through the turn properly, you'd (hopefully) have enough heads up to avoid them. Then you have the option of using the next turnout to go back & either give them hell of kick their ass. I'd start with the former & ad-lib as needed.

Anyone who has convinced themselves this road
is any worse than any other road based on our 1
in 100 (average) shots of asshat riding/ driving is
fooling themselves. This stuff happens all the
time on all those other roads you hold in such
high regard. One could argue it' s even worse on
most other roads because the anti- lane crossing
message is more prevalent here than usual.
Those other roads don 't have photographers out
there capturing every single vehicle that goes
by, then pulling out the worst offenders for
everyone to ridicule.

KB,
Very much agreed. Coming from Middle Tenn and now Southern georgia...I hate to say but all the drunk rednecks in their pickup have no regard for the yellow, and they are dui-ing in their pickups all the time. Just no one out there to enforce it most of the time.

I find weekday mornings are great to ride back and fourth.
Weekends very early with some fast guys usually from Crot. After that it is spectating time and the show is great !

It may not be worse for you all who are there every day and ride it frequently any more than some of the roads in NH where I live don't seem bad either, until the out-of-staters try too hard during bike week. You got 318 turns in 11 miles so that does put the Dragon in another class when it comes to potential for difficulties with poor drivers and riders. It also mean the road attracts them, so the percentage may not be higher than on I-95 into Maine but the numbers may be because the volume is. Doesn't mean I'll never do it - I like to travel too much to avoid some road - I'd just do it on a Wed a.m. in early October when, maybe, the freaks have not gotten up yet.

@ RC again...you are correct sir. I miss KB on about half my runs cause I get up earlier to ride it. No offense intended KB, this seems like a very time consuming line of work

Well, "setting up" the next turn is no excuse for taking someone life because of your driving skills. Everyone "myself included" knows what a double yellow line means.
