Using the term "hot rod" very loosely....

That thing's surprisingly fast! Whoever had it before did a motor swap, and took out all the power stuff, even power steering and A/C, so it's super light. I could barely pull away from him in the Evo with a fresh turbo.

Yea , I have a 89 EF Civic with a JDM swap and give a Nissan 350Z a fit on the way to work everyday. HP to weight ratio is so easy and cheap with these little cars...

Sorry guys...it may be quick, but it's still a Civic. And a hot rod a Civic does not make. This is coming from a Civic owner for what it's worth. Cool perhaps. But not a hot rod. Not even close.

But it will straight up leave a hot rod on a twisty road.

Sorry to inform you "yetimcclin" a Stock Civic owner with the US approved engine, but we are stating a ENGINE SWAP. Meaning much more HP to WEIGHT Ratio. This little car weigh in at 2000 lbs and the motors coming from JAPAN ( Look up JDM Motors) are 200 hp and up. Just compairing to say a Nissan 350Z 306 HP to 3602 lbs. or a Potiac G8 402 Hp to 4050 lbs.

Steve, you don't get it. It takes more than a motor to make a hot rod. I don't see any Civics winning the Ridler Award.

Good lord not this again.. It's Trucker all over.

Barnacles! Michael said the T-word. That's just gonna bait him in here.

It's a new world, hot rods today are different from years in the past.

Hey KB, it doesn't surprise me that you had trouble keeping up with that civic. Have you upgraded the CAMS/Fuel Pump/InterCooler on that thing yet?

Darryl Cannon aka "killboy" said...

Cams/Fuel Pump yes, along with injectors, pistons (forged, oversize) crank (stroked) valves (oversize) turbo (Tommi Makkinen WRC edition) intake, exhaust, custom tune, etc. Intercooler is shipping.

No keeping up to it, Evo is faster, but the Honda was surprisingly close. Weight kills.

The proof is in the pudding. I'm 52 years old and have had a 69' camaro with a engine swap to a 454, 292 cam 780 holly- m21 tranny and pos rear end. In its days it was a HOT ROD but in these days , these little car are the RICE Burner that can run a 1/4 mile in 12 sec and under...

Awesome D! You're cranking more HP than I was with mine, and mine was a BLAST to drive.

One thing to keep in mind with cars like KB's Evo, it's also all wheel drive with Active Center Differential. Think 400+ horsepower and can out turn a Miata.

Granted, MOST people don't put the time and money into the newer cars, hence the term Ricer. But when I owned my Evo, the American Muscle guys gave me a pass. They respected my care VERY much.

According to Merriam-Webster, and several other dictionary sources:
Hot Rod (noun)- An automobile rebuilt or modified for high speed and fast acceleration.

Nice Hot Rod Kamal ;)
