The THP was hoppin' Sunday we heard.

Stuff like 41 and 45 in the once 55, then 40, now 30mph speed limit.

They say "reducing speed-limits makes the road safer"

We say "Bullshit, can you say Revenue Enhancer!

Too bad there was not a "show of force" when the limit was lowered, like the one that got the Tail opened back up after the rock slide.

For a show of force of one, just fight every ticket. They're the easiest of all lawsuits to win. Lot's a Gap regulars win in court, even for wreckless driving.

FYI if THP follows a speeding car or bike, without BOTH emergency lights or siren ON, then the cop is guilty of the crime of speeding, per TN Code. Filing an affidavit of probable cause for criminal complaint against the cop, in that same case, requires a judge to either (1) order the arrest of the cop, or (2) dismiss all charges against the driver, per Equal Protection doctrine in the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, and the TN Constitution. That's THE LAW. The cop's own in-car video will prove all his crimes.

If only 5% of drivers put up a good fight, then traffic court would stop being profitable. A 3-hour trial puts a dent in a judge's $500,000/year paycheck, or a cop's $200,000/year "overtime" in traffic court.

Per mile ridden I would imagine you are way more likely to crash at the gap within the speed limit then at a track day. I don't feel like speed by itself = more crashing. The thing that makes any road unsafe is irresponsible driving rarely just how fast said vehicle is traveling just adds to the severity of the crash.

I am not encouraging anyone to blast around at the gap, with how many people will be traveling the other way + all the other hazards of the street it's the same as the tool below in the wrong lane.

But if they cared about making it safer truck traffic would go away all together and the limit wouldn't need to stay 30. If you have not honestly watched (in person) a truck through the gap has no business even commenting here. Lane crossing I would imagine causes more deaths then single bike speed related crashes.

I don't have any problem with any cop enforcing the law. As long as the officer doesn't have selective enforcement tactics. A couple of years ago, THP was specifically targeting sport bikes. They would turn their head and let Harleys and cruisers run by at speeds that would earn a ticket to a sportbike driver.

The law is the law, and if I break it and get caught, I'm man enough to take my medicine without crying over it. Let's face it, we know the rules, and the guys driving those squad cars go where they're told to. What else are they going to do up here? Eat doughnuts?

Let's behave and don't give them a reason to get out of the cruiser with the ticket book in hand. And if we do get a "driving award", grow a set, and man up about it. Having THP up here was conditional of getting the road opened.

No Crying Here just tellin' it like it is.

And as we all know the cops don't make the law.

don't ya think the "man-up" saying is gettin' (always was) a little gay?
