This one's a little tricky to explain...

Most of you have probably seen this before, but for those that haven't: A shadow can be seen sometimes when a jet's contrail is close to the position of the sun in the sky, and depending on which way the wind is blowing, it's only visible for a short time...maybe a few seconds. Sometimes you can even see it on a clear blue sky, which can look really dramatic. I'll get a better shot one day.
