better clearance for cornering!

The pegs/controls on my Sporty are center-mount but I use the passenger pegs all the time when I'm just rollin' along and don't need the controls. It's more comfortable than using the highway pegs in front.

The pegs on the bike pictured are more foot-forward than mid, yes?

I am also thinking the *only* time I "don't need the controls" on my bikes is when they are Parked, no?

Yes, the pegs on the bike pictured are forward mount, but I wasn't talking about that bike, I was talking about mine. Perhaps I should have said "even though the pegs/controls on my bike are center mount, I use the passenger pegs when just cruising because it's more comfortable to put my feet behind me."

There are lots of cruiser/touring bikes with highway pegs up front for stretching out that don't have controls mounted to them. Is using them the definition of safe? No. Is using them in certain situations reasonably safe? I think so. I use the passenger pegs in the same situations and for the same reason.

jazzman, my man, whatever you are comfortable with works for you.

Merely an observation. Personally, when Betty Boops Buick Blasts into my "space", I want to have *full use* of my controls.

Bottom Line? We all assume risk when riding. The second it takes to get back to the controls could be the *shplatt* that does one in. I like to minimize the death factor. ;-)
