Weekly Update - March 24, 2010
Shots from the last seven years are up in Our Store here, and be sure to check out the new additions to the area scenery/wall art selections.
Latest update on the rockslide/road closure is, as you may have already read, Dragon is now barricaded at the state line and down at the lakes. TDOT website was saying clear by this weekend, now it says 7/31. Of course there are still tons of great roads around the area, many of which people prefer to the Dragon anyway. Still, if you're planning a trip within the next few months, it might be in your best interest to speak up and let the local representatives know that you would like the Dragon re-opened for tourism down to the actual slide area. It would make for an epic opportunity to enjoy the road with very little traffic. There is a page setup with contact info on the Deals Gap site here.
We have a few highlights this week from the last day the Gap was open, plus others from around the nearby roads and some cool dog shots by Lori. I've also been playing around with some time-lapse stuff and I'll embed a few of those videos here for those interested. And remember, blogger.com has imposed a 25-post limit per page on us, so you have to click on "Older Posts" to see the rest of this week's update. Enjoy!

The 9/1 date is now said to be an estimate. And that there will be more accurate information on Monday 3/29 when the contract to clear the slide is awarded.
Lets all hope for the best =)
Cool time lapse.
Is is a standard setting or can you set different speeds?
How much time goes by in the first one?
Jabbles: They were shot with GoPro HD and you can select intervals of 2, 5, 10, 30, and 60 seconds between shots. The first one is 2 second intervals, which fills up my 16Gb card in 3.5 hours. (5 megapixel photos) The last 2 are shot at 5 second intervals.
Benny Hills got nothing on you D !
look at the thumbnail of the second vid.. there looks to be a severed hand in the car...?
Kadhim: You're right! I hadn't even noticed. My arm is just underneath the drop-down center console lid though...it's a funky design in the S2000s.
