If you look closely...
...I just realized the front wheel is off the ground here! She hit a small hole, about where the rear tire is in this shot, that caused the bike to chatter. It was a scary moment, but she kept her eyes where she wanted to go and managed to save it...very impressive. She's also going to work on keeping her feet further up on the pegs. ;)

I still want to know what kind of pants these are...sexy! My wife would love them.
They are Scorpion Savannah pants.

Not sure what kind of adjustments the suspension on the SM400 has, but a little tweaking of the adjuster screws can alleviate this from happening.
I have to say that a new rider, this was one of the scariest moments I've had on my bike. There's an embankment with a big drop off on the other side of this curve, and if I hadn't gotten the bike back under control, I would have gone over the edge and it's a long way down. I learned in my MSF course about keeping my eyes up and not target fixating, especially during mis-haps, and that's what helped keep me on the road. And like Darrell said, I also learned to avoid pot holes and keep my feet up on the pegs. I highly recommend the MSF course to other new riders, or anyone thinking about becoming a motorcyclist.
Always nice to hear the "she saved it" stories.
Good for you.
That was a true test and you passed it. Nice job and keep on ridin'
Sarah, I'm a new rider as well (took the MSF course at the beginning of March) and I have a DRZ-400S. I'm looking for someone to ride with who has a similar bike/skill level so if you are interested and live around knoxville email me up @ biblebelts@gmail.com
