Let's get this out of the way...
We picked up a new car. It's a 2002 Honda S2000 for me. Lori got tired of me beating on her Mini while waiting for the Evo enging to be rebuilt. (long story, still waiting...machine shop is a joke) It's my first convertible and first rear-drive I've owned in about 8 years. I LOVE this car...it is so fun to drive I wish I had gotten something like this sooner.

Congrats on the new whip! Good lookin' ride and glad you don't hate yourself for picking 'er up.
As for the Evo, and just my opinion of course, but I think you might wanna go pick it up (ready or not) and have someone else finish it. That does present a small problem however... you could be hard pressed to find someone willing to finish what someone else has already started - bummer : / Here's to hoping you get something resolved with it though!
Nice ride, gotta be a great car for your drive into work every day.
Welcome to the world of the evil Roadsters LOL. Hey I forgot to send you a link to my latest project (sense I sold my Evo). What do you think?

Oh, is "Engin" one of those racial slurs I've been hearing about??? (I'm 1/8 Choctaw, I can get away with it LOL)
It's "enging", get it right! :)
Nice truck I reckon, not really my thing, and that's all you see around town.
On a side note, we just got the Evo head back from the machinG shop after 3 months, so YAY! Now if my mechanic will just be back in town this weekend...
I thought you looked familiar when I passed you the other day. I was up there on Sunday and passed you a couple of times on a red VFR (gave you a heads up on the trooper).
Nice looking car and nice pace.
Yeah, you're gonna like that car. it's one of my favorite cages, and I've driven a *bunch*! :)
One caveat, though, the alignment specs for the first model year were, uhm... well, just say that if you hit anything it'll be with the trunk. One SCCA school I instructed I lucked out and got 3 S2ks for students, an '00, '01, and an '02. I thought that it might just be me having trouble with the '00 so I had another instructor drive it and he spun it. I'd raced against that guy for two years and never seen him spin.
I'm sure the issue's been taken care of by now, maybe check for specs at your local S2k forum. :)
Oh yeah, bummer you didn't get teh red interior. :-P
IMHO the '02-'03 AP1 are the best year models.
The AP2 ('04-'09) don't have the 9K rev happy 2.0 and the 02-03 got some minor tweaks to the chassis and interior (cup holders I believe haha)
Good luck with the EVO!
Maybe Darrel will become the 'god hand' of the gap. (see the last few episodes of the 3rd season of initial D)
Duane: yeah thnx for the heads-up, I remember ya. Turns out he was a friendly anyway.
Motor: Just got it aligned yesterday, but it wasn't far out to begin with. Seems pretty manageable...pushes the front off throttle, gradually goes into oversteer as you roll on the throttle. I've got some bigger wheels & tires on the way...slightly wider for the rear. I'll probably play with the sway bars & look into stiffer aftermarket stuff. Some guys are saying removal of the rear swaybar makes a big improvement in grip, but I'm looking for it to be more fun than fast. ;)
I hope you were kidding about the red interior...bleh!
pk386: Yeah I specifically searched for the AP1 year models...I know they're a little more of a handful & harder to drive, but I'm ok with that.
Don't count on the God Hand status, but I am looking to put those paved pull offs to new use. Haven't seen that 3rd season, but I loves me some Initial D!
It's about time you joined the roadster fun! Glad you are enjoying it. I've had mine 7 years and still get a thrill driving it. Word of caution, the worst handling characteristic is snap oversteer on throttle lift, so if you are a little too hot, you've got to keep on the throttle to keep the rear planted.
Enjoy it, and see you in 14 days!
Congrats on the new ride. :-)
Ap1 FTW!
sweeeeeet. too bad it isnt an AP2FTW :P
i'll be up there from miami this week with my04(berlina black btw:)). get lots of pics please.
Ok...Ok...we'll let you take pics at all our events now...LOL!! Awesome ride Darryl! The guys (and gals) of s2ki.com are gonna be so excited to hear about this. We'll see you next weekend for our 9th annual DBR (DragonBall Run) event!
Uh oh, the s2ki.com folks are on to my sinister ploy to connect with another group of potential customers...I'm busted. ;)
Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I'm sure I'll be around your forums more when time allows, particularly this winter.
Awesome another s2k local! Mines an 02 Berlina w/red. Whats wrong with red??? ;-)
is it five-speed?
Fuelrush: it looks like guts! ;)
Darian: 6-speed with buttery-smooth short-shift action.
