Husqvarna SMR510

I recently picked up a motor for my 510 that blew up and put me on my ass skidding across the road a couple of years ago. New mill is a 2008 with fuel injection that I'll be putting into a 2006 chassis, so I have to figure something out with the exhaust because it was routed down the left side on mine. I'm hesitant to ride it again though because it nearly killed me last time with no warning...hoping the new motor is built better, and planning to have a friend beef it up a little by welding the connecting pin in and maybe upgrading the bottom end to ball bearings. He says keeping the RPMs down helps too. (and yes it had plenty of oil when it failed ;)

I've heard good things from owners of the newer ones KB. From what I've been told, other than more frequent oil changes and valve checks they are no worse than any other performance based motard. I still want a 610 one of these days. Good luck with it man.

KB, well that is me. I love the SMR, it is by far the funnest bike I have ever ridden at the gap, made my Superduke feel like work! The exhaust is a custom one off. It is a MIVV SUONO can spliced onto the OEM header pipe. I have a guy that does custom exhaust work for cars and he has done a few for me. This is an 08. The engine after break in was amazine, added the "power up" kit and have a PC waiting to go in it. Shoot me an email if you have any questions.

It's too bad you can't get a Honda or Yamaha street single in the 530-690 cc range. If you want a dealer network you have to go with a 250 or an '85 Kawasaki. :-\
