Weekly Update - August 13, 2008
Photos from last week are uploading to Our Store here. These are some of the highlights.
Well the conditions last weekend were wonderful, with cool, breezy days, and almost chilly nights. The traffic was light, although we heard the police were out there hot and heavy Sunday, writing a bunch of tickets for minor speeding in the faster sections.
This weekend there are a few activities to mention. There will be a trash pickup Saturday morning by the EastTNriders.com forum members. A group of Cobras (the cars, not the snakes ;) will also be out there Saturday. Sunday high-flow rafting is scheduled along the Cheoah river, which runs alongside 129 just south of Deals Gap. Also the Carolina Porsche club will be in the area this weekend.
And a bit long term, but just a reminder that next weekend will see the third annual Women's Sportbike Rally, so if you're interested in that, head on over and get signed up!
Ok, on to the highlights...

Indy MotoGP, Sept. 12-14.
Hey Guys and Gals!! not really sure how many people will read this but i gotta air it out. I recently was wittness to a very scarey event. Sunday night (8-10-08) I was on my home from work, in my cage as i car pool now, going down the interstate at about 70. As i look in the mirror i notice a bike coming up behind me, no big deal right. well he passed me, musta been runnin 75-80. after which i notcied, this guy could barely keep the bike on the interstate, was going from solid line to solid. It was at this point that i realized this guy must be trashed. at this point i got realy worried from him as we were approaching a construction zone in which the road narrowed, and also had workers present. So now im worried not only from the biker but the workers also. Well as you might expect this story doesnt end very well. To some degrees luckily the guy hit a sign as he came into the construction zone and crashed pretty bad, wearing nothing but a t-shirt, jeans, and an open face helmet. I say luckily so some degree because there were several workers right near the center line that he could have hit only a few hundred yards away. I only mention the helmat because he landed face down. Im not really sure how bad he got hurt, but he was not moving any at the scene. As far as im aware he didnt die, i saw no reports on the news or papers of it. I write this to remind everyone, If you ve had to much to drink call a cab, its not worth the risk. And dont let your friends do it, i cant imagine how his buddies that were at the bar with him felt the next day.Im not trying to preach, trust not that im proud but i have drove a little drunk before to. I know one things for sure seeing this happen really made me look at it alot differently. Sorry this is so long, but i felt it needed to be said. Ride safe everyone!!!!
