Weekly Update - June 18, 2008

Photos from last week are in Our Store here. These are just some of the highlights.

Well let's get this over with...

Lori hit a wild boar Monday night and crashed again...this time on the Gixxer 750. She's sore and really bummed, broke her right collar bone, but soldiering on. We were just cruising home from dinner with friends in Maryville, I was driving her truck just ahead, and a big one ran out between us around mile marker 10.5 on the TN side. (Between Tabcat bridge and Calderwood Power Station turn-off) Some guys passing through stopped to help us throw the bike in the back of the truck, (thanks fellas!) one of them tore his hand up pretty good when his fingers got between the fork and brake carrier when the front wheel hit the tail gate and started rolling. (sorry fella!) Thanks to the staff at Blount Memorial for taking great care of her, and friends who helped and are already showing support. We'll get through this!

Last weekend was fairly slow, with hardly any traffic Friday, late-day rain Saturday, and a little traffic with beautiful weather on Father's Day. This weekend will probably be crazy, with the huge Honda Hoot, the big R1/R6 Forum sportbike rally, and the big Cherohala Challenge bicycle ride Saturday. I'm sure we will have an interesting update next week...not that this week's is anything to sneeze at.

Y'all please be careful out there!

Lori, God bless you!...You are way too nice and sweet to be hurt again... take care of yourself with Darryl's help and get well soon. I agree it's time for a "pig picking!"

By the law of averages nothing else will happen to Lori for 20 years or so.

It's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up that matters. Don't stop ridding. Get well.

Gadzooks, running into a boar standing in the road...I don't remember them telling us to watch out for that in driver's ed. Lori, we met briefly in '04 or '05 when I was out visiting Deals Gap from Colorado. (I had to go after seeing pictures on killboy.com.) Here's wishing you a speedy recovery & a smoother next ride on the gixxer.

I really didn't think there were wild boar in Maryville...what is this town coming to! I agree I hope there were some left over for dinner! :) Get better soon, hopefully I'll get to meet you in October! :) Lot's of Love to all...everyone stay safe and get you some bells for your bikes!

may 28th I went down avoiding a critter. Bike was totaled. . .I ended up with 5 fractured ribs and a broken right collar bone also. Drs surgically reassembled the collar bone with 11 screws and a 5 inch long plate. Said that will ease the healing process and actually speed it up considerably. Might wanna consider it.

Glad you are ok otherwise.

Thanks for the support everyone!! It stinks that I'm gonna miss about 6-8 weeks of great riding this summer. But I hope to have a new bike to ride, to replace the 636, by the time I'm healed. I have been looking into getting my collar bone plated, that option is looking really good right now. It's just finding the time to get to a doctor and get it done. Right now it's my right leg that is giving me trouble, it's ballooned up 2-3x's it's normal size from just above the knee down.

I've got a great husband to take care of me ;) so no worries there.

It just goes to show no matter how safe and careful you try and be, crap still happens. Don't ever think it's not gonna happen to you, because it could when you least expect it. I've had it happen twice now. You've just got to keep your head up, smile, and get through it and not let it get ya down.

Thanks again for all the thoughts, love and support! I love you guys and gals!!

Get well soon, Lori!!! I'm so sorry to read that you had another accident. Take care and get back on that steel horse when you are ready, but TAKE YOUR TIME AND DON'T LET ANYONE RUSH YOU! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
