We lost a good person last week...
John Deniakis was a local and regular rider of Deals Gap. He frequented our comments trying to reach those who needed a little more guidance, and we even have shots of him escorting a semi through the Gap so no one would get hurt just hours before his accident on Hwy 321.
We will miss you John...Godspeed.

A truly great American who gave much of himself for the troops and their families. We'll ride together again one day John.
We only met John once, at a Patriot Guard mission, but he made an impact. Ride free John. Scout out the good roads with Deltoid for us.
Lori and Darryl,
Thank you both so much for making this and posting it! John's fav pic you ever took of him was when he was on his sportster giving you the gun show! lol But this pic really captures him. Smiling like a fool! LOL He loved his bike and he loved the dragon. That's where he was really happy!
Little Bro,
You will be sorely Missed, both in the Flag lines and in our hearts!
We will ride a Memorial mission in your Honor on July 5th, and the Dragon will be part of that mission, I know you will be smiling down on us as we cross your dragon....
Godspeed, John, Godspeed, SmokyMtnSporty....

:( God bless you man. R.I.P. I didn't know you but it sounds like you'll really be missed.
i for one did not know john. but being a rider makes him my brother just the same.
seeing how he was loved and respected makes me wish that i did know him.
may he be with God and may God be with those who loved him, his family, & his friends.
You'll be deeply missed John. I know, though, that there was a burly guy up there with a big grin just waiting for you, saying "Come on in little brother...I'll show you all the good roads!"
I'll see you and Deltoid on the other side my friend....
Rest in Peace my fellow rider. May you have many roads to ride in heaven.
It saddens me to see that another rider has fallen. May God be with your family and friends through this difficult time. Rest In Peace my fellow motorcycle riding brother. To all of my motorcycle brothers and sisters, be safe.
I didn't know him, but I wish I had...

I've been lurking here for years and miss this guy already. Dude had style.
Miss you John, A couple of days ago, I made the last ride we had planned for the weekend that ended up being your funeral. I wish I had been riding with you, and not burying you. I know you were smiling down with me as I made that ride, albeit a few days later than we planned.
Godspeed SmokyMtnSporty!!

Asheville Citizens Times:
ASHEVILLE - As a highly experienced rider and motorcycle enthusiast, Greg McQuide raced his Suzuki SV650 at the Willow Springs International Raceway in the Mojave Desert town of Rosamond, Calif., north of his hometown of Hollywood. It was ironic, then, that the 30-year-old member of the Willow Springs Motorcycle Club and associate editor of Motorcyclist magazine would die during a routine cruise on Interstate 40Friday evening while in town for the Honda Hoot. According to Highway Patrol McQuide laid his motorcycle down in the road to avoid being struck by a box-type truck that unexpectedly cut into his lane. When he did, he lost his grip on the bike and slammed into the guardrail, dying almost instantly. Two nurses witnessed the accident and stopped, but were unable to get a pulse. Troopers and sergeants were making a concerted effort to no avail Saturday to find the red-cab truck with a white box. They checked at least eight trucks matching the description at the WNC Farmers Market on Saturday, but with nothing else to go upon were unsuccessful. There were four witnesses to the accident, although the truck apparently never made contact with the rider. No one got a license plate number of the eastbound truck.
