...the front left suspension broke. Note the rust along the breaking point...it has been in the process of failing for quite a while. Scary. The really remarkable thing is that we had just been driving along at 50-60mph around sweeping turns, and it snapped just as we came to a stop in a friend's parking lot...in front of a car garage!

Are those DJM or Western Chassis lower control arm?
DJM I believe. The replacement we ordered was by them, and it looks to have the same finish. It says they've redesigned it, and there is a lifetime warranty, so we will see. (should be delivered any minute) I guess they don't have to worry about the lifetime warranty fulfillment if you DIE.
Screw that.
I have been pretty happy with my western chassis, hopefully they redsign it, had a friend with a older body style dakota break the same way with a DJM. Right at the lower ball joint ear. Glad no one got hurt.
In light of recent events with Lori, this seems like icing on a strange cake! I think you have some watchful angels looking out for you both.
