Doesn't have to be. NC State troopers don't all use them either. I passed one the other day that was NC XXX SHP
Regular NC plate except the date at the top was stamped in.
They don't always use gov plates, nor do they always use *Tennessee* plates. I know of at least one vehicle in the Knoxville PD fleet that has a non-Tennessee plate.
BCSO has 2 Maruaders.......Sheriff Berrong drives one of them and he doesnt live too far from these twisties.......

Yes, he recently nabbed a guy in a widebody Scion that works at our local Mazda dealer.
