sweet article.
My reply to:
Ms. Ansley Haman,
It appears that you and your editors believe that "If it bleeds, it leads!"
While most of the facts in the article on the Dragon seem reasonably accurate, your over-emphasis of the accidents, the outrageous hospital costs for caring for an injured person and especially your focus on the three recent deaths is unfortunate. A more balanced approach would have acknowledged that those three deaths were the first on the Dragon this year.
I and my sons visit the Dragon several times a year either in a sports sedan to drive it, or on our sport bikes to ride it. We do our best to drive / ride safely, but we also always acknowledge that the Dragon can bite. Nevertheless, it is also an extremely enjoyable way to spend a day or two.
The one other important point that you completely failed to make is that the many visitors to the Dragon clearly bring significant dollars into the local economy. I believe that any survey of the local residents on the impact of the visitors to the Dragon would, on balance, be extremely positive.
In summary Ms. Ansley, there are clearly ups and downs to the Dragon. It is unfortunate that you didn't do a better job of presenting both sides of the story.
Sincerely.
Jeff Fisher
