Good job Gov. Bredesen

Two more you ran off with petty tickets...cause those plates are really unsafe.

Question:

Let's say you were from out of state vacationing there riding like so many do. You get pulled over & given a ticket for a plate infraction. If you keep the ticket in your pocket & get pulled over again for the same thing, you show the officer your previous ticket, do they issue you another ticket or cut you slack?

Just curious.

Here's a question: it seems they schedule the court appearances for the same date a month from the ticket. If that's the case then there could be several metric tons of people at the courthouse on the first of September. If all the local peeps (I expect the out-of-staters will mostly mail in their fines rather than come back to this horrible place for the court date) show up and crowd the courtroom, each pointing out the triviality of the tickets - do you think the judge will get sick of hearing it? If so, will he side with the troopers or the bikers?

We are considering printing t-shirts stating that our shop supports the right to ride motorcycles and showing up as well.

I'm not defending the cops, but were those tags properly displayed? In Florida, I'm afraid this would be an infraction also. If these guys re-mounted these tags to a location other than designed by the motorcycle manufacturer and they weren't illuminated as they're required to be, then they should expect a ticket. Put the tags where they belong. Now, I understand the frustration of such a petty violation, but for cyring out loud, why give THP any ammunition? You might just want to post a billboard message upon your back asking to be cited for something. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy when it comes to this stuff.

Tags should be displayed properly on any vehicle. I saw some bikes over the weekend with the tag in front of the rear wheel... that's like me putting a plate in the wheel well of one of my cars. Ridiculous!

If the plate is visible and readable from the rear. I think that is treading on the hairy line of petty law enforcement and harassment if tickets are written for those "law breakers."
