Not to be a complete d@ck or anything, but isn't this sort of crap that partially led to the increased THP enforcement.
Personally, I am impressed and stand in awe of what many of these guys can do on and with a bike, but it has no place on a public road.
Sorry, but I'm the guy in the pic, and this was on the NC side. I was waiting on someone to slam it. I'm not saying it's right, nor am I saying it's wrong either it was what it was, I did it because I figured I'd have some fun. It was a slow day on Saturday, I already knew where 10 of our "best-friends" were waiting. After I went past I turned around and talked with Darryl for awhile.(on that note, it was great to meet you, and as with everyone, we appreciate all the things you do to keep things safe(r) for all that travel the Gap, and hope your new plans work out well!). Safe riding everyone.
I would tend to believe what brought out the police presence is the lack of respect. Not so much on our little stretch of asphalt but in the surrounding areas that lead to it. The locals will only put up with so many idiots blowing thru too fast endangering their loved ones or in too low of a gear as to make your machine scream with high rpms taking their peace & quiet away. I can totally understand their distaste for bikers. Respect. Thats what it is about. A while back I remember some church folk complaining that they couldn't hear the sermon. The response was some idiots riding by church's revving up their bikes. Respect. The loss of revenue from the bikers that come from out of state means very little when you compare it to what the state receive from places like Gatlinburg, Nashville & Memphis. This will all settle down after a while. In the meantime the best you can do to expedite it is.....respect.
