Well I guess it's better than having them following.

Isn't there some law that says you have to pull off and allow traffic to pass if you're holding up more than 5 vehicles while driving below the speed limit? (about 15-20mph in this case) Anyone have a video running?

The law is limited to farm equipment.

Not if that trooper has an F endorsement on his own license

I guess since they are being "escorted" at under 30mph, they could be considered a parade. That would allow them to legally do wheelies and endos...but I know I would not have had the balls to test this theory...lol

Isn't it funny how many rules apply to citizens that don't SEEM to apply to LEO's? When in all reallity LEO's must obey all the same traffic laws we do unless "in the lawful discharge of his/her duties as an officer." This seems like abuse of the system in some cases and other officers seeing it have a "Duty to act."

Food for thought for some of you LEO's out there. You know who you are...

Here in NY state I never see police obeying the laws. They are ALL speeding and ALL talking on their cell phones constantly.

In Knoxville, THP calls this a "rolling roadblock", and they do it all the time for TDOT at Malfunction Junction on I-40/75.

TN Code requires all vehicles to pull off the road if 5 or more vehicles are being held up. So you can literally write that trooper a ticket, like a citizen's arrest under TN Code 40-7-109, and 55-10-207 for citation in lieu of arrest. But that statute only allows a "warning" on the "first offense". So be sure to do it twice.

Tennessee Code §55-8-123. Driving on roadways laned for traffic: "Where passing is unsafe because of traffic in the opposite direction or other conditions, a slow-moving vehicle, including a passenger vehicle, behind which five (5) or more vehicles are formed in line, shall turn or pull off the roadway wherever sufficient area exists to do so safely, in order to permit vehicles following it to proceed."

I did get video of a deputy speeding at over 75 mph on Foothills Pkwy and crossing the centerline repeatedly, and speeding on 321, without the required emergency lights and siren turned on. Tag GW-3020. Imagine what they do on the Dragon at shift change...
