Our man Mike went down pretty hard Saturday...

I heard he only suffered a broken shoulder blade and bruised lung. Godspeed on your recovery. Posted by Picasa

And I broke three ribs in my back along with some torn veins at the base of my neck when I impacted the tree……but my bike, (sob)…. my poor bike. I feel like a junkie without a fix. No more bike to ride….unless some wealthy person out there may take pity on me and give me another….I’m not picky, it could be most any thing. (Grady and his Dad did bring me a new Ducati 996 when I was in the Hospital, but the three inch wheel base is just a little too small for me.)
I had one of those days where I just didn’t feel like things were clicking and I lost concentration in a left hander for just a second and that’s all it took. I low sided into a tree. What a stupid mistake. From what I was told the left side of my back stuck the tree and I spun around it and then down the hill until a log stopped me. I just thank the good Lord that I can sit here and type this out right now.
A HUGE thanks to all those that stopped and helped especially Ben and Zee for hauling my bike home and Mike for making the phone calls.
Darryl, thank you for thinking of me and putting me on the front page.
What a great group of people.

Later,
Mike

Glad you are ok. I work with your wife and ride a real Duc 996. No offense but it this is what it takes to get on the front page, I will just do without. Don't give up. Get back on a horse and ride again.

Mike,
I am the guy who was right behind you when you crashed. As I mentioned then, it was an ugly get-off. Crap was flying all over and I kept telling myself "don't watch the crash!".
Without concentrating on watching, I did see you and the bike get a real quick introduction to a pine tree. I was more than a little concerned.
I went by and immediately turned my bike around to see there was no sign of Mike. Uh-oh, not good.
When I ran to the spot, there you were - off down the hill, sitting there like you were just taking a break (no pun intended).
You speak the truth when you morn your bike. It was much worse for the wear.
Well, I am glad you are no more seriously injured than you are. The bike can be replaced.
You can't.
Take care and heal well.
Hope to see you back at The Gap when you are all done mending.

Best wishes-
Brian

Brian,
Thank you for all your help at the crash.
If you are the same Brian A on ETR, I just sent you a PM.
The insurance adjuster was here today and said the bike is totaled.

I was sitting down the hill after I stopped falling thinking....man... that hurt.

Thanks Again,
Mike

I'm feeling for you brother! Last November I went down on the dragon, on my FZ1. I know what you mean when you say it just took a second, I still keep waking up at night trying to figure out just what happened. I Broke my arm, ribs, and pelvis. I'm feeling your pain. Get well soon.
I didn't get a chance to thank all the folks that stopped and helped me out. There was a guy on a blue FZ1 there, if that was you thanks!

Hey Mike,

its a wind-e-y road.....

Sorry to hear about the wreck man.. It's always a bummer to hear about people going down, but especially you. I think I learned more about riding the day I spent chasing you around than I have in the past 5 years.. anyways, heres a clip that might cheer you up.
