You can minimize that by running your footboards loose, so they'll give when they hit the road. Throw your inside foot up to the highway peg when you feel a hit coming on. I have run mine that way for years with no problems. I just snug em down tight when I hit the interstate. It's just two bolts, takes a second. I ride an old FatBoy on 226A (a little Dragon) and never have problems any more. Try it.
