Weekly Update - November 1, 2006
Photos from last week are uploading to Tha Store. We're starting to pick-and-choose the days we shoot, so we may not be out there every day. We'll try to get out and shoot as much as we can though!
Last weekend was pretty nasty...it rained hard Friday, and the road was still damp for the early part of Saturday. Sunday was fairly nice, and traffic was low. The Blount County Sheriff's Department brought out over a dozen vehicles to patrol the 11 mile section of road...seemed like a big waste of recources to me. Let's all remember to do all we can to keep the complaint level low. Of course the noisiest wheel gets the oil first, and some people will just complain about anything, most of the time exaggerating or flat out lying, so just do what you can to keep tempers down. Give them a friendly wave if they let you by (or even if they don't) and don't let it be confused for a middle-finger or frustration.
This weekend is looking to be clear and a little cool. Hope to see some of you out there!

FYI: Folks the wife and I stopped in at the Hellbender gas station (just before Fontana Village) and was told about a flying Mini that umm flew off and landed in the Lake, if ya look on tailofthedragon.com you can see a shot of the chopper with divers hanging on the skids.
BTW: What happened to the guy that went down Saturday around ~5pm? We came thru and saw about 15 bikes that were pulled off and directing traffic around the poor guy who was still laying in the road not looking too happy (hope he's ok).
The verification window comes and goes. I suspect it is my options setup.
Before posting that day, just go to the GET YOUR OWN BLOG on the Killboy home page. Log in there and go back to Killboy. The verification window will be full then.
I think you can also just go to blogger.com and make sure you're logged in, then come back here and reload. (some glitch with cookies in certain browsers) It's at the top of the page for future referrence. ;)
Heh a Goldwing traversing the GAP 1K miles is hardly treating the GAP as a track (not that that isn't an amazing accomplishment), you could say the same of a biciclyst riding it repeatadly. I've seen the guy ride and he's the far end of courteous and not a speed deamon. Now if it was CBRs, YZFs or Ducattis etc then you'd have an argument. I'm betting the enformcement had more to do with the flying Mini (that landed in the lake) and the bike crash Sat ~5pm which no one seems to know about (despite there being >15 bikes pulled off helping the poor guy).
BTW: When we came back thru the gap we followed one of the unmarked SUV popo rides and video'd them driving all over the lines.... Imaging driving below the speed limit and still needing two lanes... sigh
Hey mtncrvr, maybe you could post of that video of the SUV?
