Weekly Update - August 16, 2006

Unfortunately we had the second fatality for the year Tuesday at Deals Gap. Our thoughts are with the family. Y'all please take it easy out there and keep your family and loved ones in mind.

Last weekend was really overcast, and raining all around the area, but not so much at the Gap. It was fairly dry and cool all day Saturday, and great Sunday. That'll teach ya to listen to me about the weather.

Nothing on the calendar for this weekend, although I'm sure there will be plenty of enthusiasts out there. Lori and I will be in Florida watching Keith and Charity tie the knot. David is covering. Have fun and play nice with each other!

In the mean time, here's a little feedback to keep in mind. We really have a nice place to play here, but you guys acting like asshats on the way to and from the Gap, annoying the surrounding public, are crapping in your own food bowl...and everyone else's.

My girlfriends mother goes to Birchfield Church, the straight away before you get to HWY 72 on HWY 129. For some reason, there are alot of people that think that this is the place to stretch it out. The problem is, they do it when everyone is standing outside on Sunday morning getting ready to go in for service. They go by at 13000 RPMS+ and the bible thumpers don't like it.

I'm not kidding about RPMS, I have an 06 GSXR 1000 and I know what they sound like, second and third gear, one or two tires. I love to raise hell, but the closer you get to the Dragon doesn't mean the faster you get. That is still a very residential area all the way up until the dam. Lots if kids, pets, and friends. I don't ride like that through subdivisions so why should it be right to do it in our front yards. But thats not the problem, once these church go'ers start complaining, the local LEOS will be out in force. When you get a congregation together, you might as well have the state rep. on your side. And that could be bad.

Chill. Out.

Just be respectful... no matter what people are complaining about. If your going by a church saturday night/sunday morning be respectful...its easy to do... UPSHIFT and run low rpms and they wont care (as much).

I live near a twisty road that winds mostly through rural areas of Kentucky but also includes a deaf child zone and a couple of small towns. I simply do not speed through these areas. Why? BECAUSE I'M NOT A SQUID!
