Wow...I think you could have taken out 3, maybe even 4 bikes riding together in their own lane. Awesome guy!

Darryl - we've linked this one to our Dragonball thread. Keep up the great work!
The entire group was pretty fruity. I believe Tyler had some words with one of 'em and got the middle finger as a response. I know the guy in the red RX-8 got a talkin' to from Brad and Francois after a less-than-graceful parking lot entry at the store.
s2thousand,
Glad you stopped by here and really glad you admitted a mistake. Thats very mature of you. Now next time just chill out get to know the road more then have fun but stay between the lines... Let the other people you were with know too.

I told your buddy that he needs to drive in one lane, and that I don't want to die because he can't control his fucking car. But maybe you're right, I have no right to raise my voice at somebody that I watched drive on the wrong side of the road around every blind corner on the road for 5 miles. What was I thinking? If your buddy had a problem with something I said to him he should have spoken up rather than him driving away while giving me the finger. Or, he could have apologized and stopped driving like an idiot. I guess I can't expect a rational response from someone who would drive like that in the first place.
Nobody owns that road, and that's exactly the point. Of all of the time I have spent on that road, your group displayed by far the most dangerous driving I have ever seen. Literally, there have been 18 wheelers that spent less time in the oncoming lane than your group. And as for the motorcyclists that you have seen passing on blind sections and blowing corners, they are just as wrong in doing so as you are. Certainly you don't mean to imply that their irresponsible driving justifies yours.
The bottom line is I want to go home at the end of the day to see my family just like everybody else. When you drive with a complete disregard for my life and everyone else's, you're going to hear about it. If you've got a problem with it then fix your driving. Simple as that.
Hey, the good news is the Miatas will be their this weekend and everyone will have long forgotten your transgretions. The Miata drivers hold 1st chair in the "Driving Like an @sshat" catagory.
And I was just about to give them another shot when on Sunday a guy in a green convertable blew every corner for four miles. He realy though he was fast. wouldn't let me by even after others pulled off to allow him past. Since they were left handers I guess he thought it was OK. And of course he pulled a U before we got to the overlook.
I will find some place else to be this weekend.
Be safe and avoid the mid-life Miata
I followed your group on my bike from the point on the road that I stopped you at all the way down to the lake trying to get you all to pull over on your first pass through. I was the guy on the red bike that missed hitting your group head on by about 1 second as you came through sliding out of control into my lane. The cars I followed were a silver S2000, a red S2000, a red RX-8, and a silver Integra if I remember correctly. I watched car after car drive in the wrong lane all the way up until the road straightened out at the lake. As for our confrontation, I didn't flick you off. And whether or not you're offended by being yelled at really wasn't on my mind considering you could have easily ended my life with the way your group was driving.
Whether or not you're new to that road or not is irrelevant. That road operates the same way any other road in the country does, and anyone that holds a drivers license should have a grasp on something as basic as what side of the road to drive on. I would think self preservation instincts alone would keep someone from driving into oncoming traffic. There is no reason that anyone should have to stop you on the side of the road and explain these things to you.
I'm all for car groups coming through, and I certainly have nothing against fast riding or driving, so long as it's done in a controlled and nonthreatening manner. Keep it between the paint and everyone can have a good time. Otherwise you're likely to have another group of pissed off people to deal with that don't take kindly to having to dodge oncoming traffic.
jakkfrostt I couldn't agree with you more! I don't care who you are for what you drive/ride/push or pull keep the yellow line to the LEFT of your tires and the white line to the right. Speed is not what we are talking about, if you can take a corner at 150mph and stay in the lines DO IT but dont take a corner at 20mph and cross the yellow line.

While I was shooting I saw the red RX-8 going south bound take a BLIND corner (mud corner) completely in the wrong lane.
I think I'll disagree with the Miata group being "a$$hats". Considering how large their group they seem to do pretty well but I'm sure they have a few bad apples just like EVERY other car and motorcycle group does.
Sorry doc I disagree with you. I know my car is faster then some bikes AND the vehicle your driving in has only 50% of the speed, the Driver has the rest. This weekend i had many people pull off for me bikes, cars, SUVs because I was goign faster and caught them. Now the people like you seeing a vehicle behind you thinkingyour going faster because your a bike is just plain wrong. Oh yea I was driving a F-250 diesel and my sporty car is a 2003 Mitsu Evo if you see me behind you get out of the way even moreso when i stop in the road let you get a couple corners ahead then chase you down. If your a slow bike, car, truck, trike.... PULL OVER no matter what the person behind you is driving/riding.
"I hate it when people lump everyone into one category simply by the car they drive or the bike they ride. We are all individuals!! But damn, is it me or are the Harley riders the worst for not moving over???"
Yes
As far as Miata drivers go most of them are fine. As are any other group. The Miata drivers have also tried to do a lot to help the perception some of us have.
They are still fun to pick on because they also whine more than any other group. LOL
I like the paint ball idea. Sounds like something the comedian Galahger said about using arrows, if you have more than three, you get a ticket.
I personally do not think crossing the lines is ever warranted regardless of whether the road is new to you or not. The Gap is not the place to learn yours or your vehicle's (motorcycle or car) limits. Take a few passes easy to learn the road and then add speed. Also try some auto-xing to learn your limits. Or track riding for the bikes. Take out a cone not your fellow man. If you think its easy try it, you'll learn more than you think.
And if you don't belive me, watch Rally Racing on Speed. The driver and navigator have driven the route and taken extensive notes. Even with that they foul up. If they're the best in the world, what makes you think you can do better on your first pass. Take it easy, take another pass and then another. Have a passenger take notes like the Rally drivers.
I was behind some jerk in an Oldsmobile POS and he could not let me by. Other drivers pulled over but this idiot is determined to show me what a great driver he is and how that big American iron can dust my little Miata. Sorry dude, I was on your butt for two miles never crossing the line and you were all over the road. Every time you heard my horn you were well over the line. The only reason I let you go is because I could tell your little ego was willing to risk everyone elses life to prove what? That if you break all the rules you can beat someone who is following them? Please. I never left second gear and I had the A/C on. You finally scared my wife so much she begged me to let your sorry excuse go. I caught you again with two miles to go but laid back as I didn't want your little contest to start again. I didn't want to see your sorry butt in the ditch much less a sport bike or fellow Miata car wrecked. Hope you had a good time bragging to your buddies about how you wasted me. Now go get some driving lessons and learn to stay between the lines.
Return trip not much fun either, behind a monster Ford Exped with a mad wife. (She had much less charitable thoughts about the Olds driver) He finally decided to pull off after he found out he was leading a parade of me in my Miata, another Ford SUV and six sport bikes that I could count and probably more. Only followed him for four miles at least and yes he was not kind to the yellow line but at least he wasn't racing and beyond his limits, just couldn't steer the big monster. Guess the pegs on the steering wheel were too much.
I personally like the challenge of staying between the lines. Its just like auto-xing, forces you to concentrate on the line. Each line crossed is a two second penalty and those add up quick!
Life is always a game of calculated risk. Just because you beat the odds crossing the yellow once doesn't mean you'll always win. Look at the pictures here. People dropping bikes, cars over the line. Road bikes completely over everywhere. Most walk away as the road is not 100% occupied, but there is always the risk of a coincidence. And since that is not predictable, stay in your lane! And as others have said, if you can't stay in your lane stay home!
a: No one following in a car is "trying to kill you". Lose the drama.
b: Some of you might be surprised at what type of street legal vehicle can run the quickest time out there...it doesn't have 2 wheels and no it's not mine. ;)

Please be courteous and allow faster traffic to pass. As my friend Rick says, "Behind you they are a threat, in front of you, they are entertainment." Plus it keeps people from making bad passes and endangering others...others which might be you next time.

I think that maybe the fastest Gap vehicle has 3 wheels
Besides a VROD is about as much Harley as my Yamaha.
They should just call it what it is. A Porsche
Before you dissagree do a little research. HD couldn't make it happen without some good ole German engineering.
