Weekly Update - July 18, 2006
Early update this week...Lori and I are planning to run down to Florida tomorrow and pick up a bike. We had several offers to bring it up, and we really appreciate it, but after thinking about it, we felt it would be a nice chance to get away for a couple of days.
Last week was really slow...great time to ride/drive. We got a little rain late in the day Friday and Saturday, typical for this time of year.
I've been told that Tuesday night's episode of Super Bikes on Speed TV will be the one with the footage from Deals Gap a couple of weeks ago. And don't forget the big MotoGP Jam this weekend at the motorcycle resort. Free food and drinks sponsored by Red Bull!
Again, NCDOT is paving the section from the state line to Fugitive Dam bridge, and TNDOT is working on the gravel pull off areas on the TN side. The gravel is not bad, and several of the locals are working to keep the road as clean as possible so we can all continue to enjoy it.

Watched the Super Bikes show. It really shows the ugly side of motorcycling, the ones that do not know how to behave.
The thing is folks, all motorcyclists get effected when crud like this is shown in public. It make the public look at all of us like a bunch sorry punks. It makes Johnny Law think about cracking down (read your '02 Drag racing Blog could not see the video). It makes the politicians panic and pass anti motorcycle laws like the loud pipes, helmets, and such.
I have been riding for 16 years. I have ridden all kinds of bikes, but I have never been an idiot on any of these like what I saw on the show.
As for the Deal's Gap piece, all I saw was brake stands, wheelies, and bunch of morons riding in a pack.
Like an Army buddy and fellow rider once said, "A great motorcycle rider only puts himself in danger, a stupid one takes everyone with them."
So if you feel that the air time on the bike night could be better used, then go to SpeedTV.com and scroll all the way down to the FEEDBACK and click it.
If enough of us serious riders stand up and be heard, then bad riders will either stop or learn the rules of the road.
