I don't think it's the charge that gets people. I think it's the fact that it is perceived as a hidden charge. We negotiate the cost of the vehicle and then you tac on a whole bunch of additional fees. What would be nice is if all vehicle dealers were required to reflect all charges in the price and then you could negotiate that. But no, come see the finance manager so he can start tacking on extra charges now that we have you sold.

That's why I always negotiate in terms of OTD (Out The Door), only. It avoids a nasty confrontation when I sit down to sign the paperwork...
