Weekly Update - June 07, 2006
All photos from last week (and the last 3 years ;) are online in our store here.
So I crashed for the 3rd time in 5 years of riding the Gap on Monday...on someone else's bike no less. Real low-speed, no real injuries. A local motard guru FORCED me (hah!) to ride his Suzuki DR650 motard, so I took it from the picnic tables to the Overlook and back. (about 4 miles total) The bike felt really smooth to be a single, and easy to ride. On the way back I was going around the tight right with the guardrail on my right, just before getting to the picnic tables, and the front tire washed out. It felt just like crashing a pocketbike...I remember thinking "If I could just push down with this knee and give it some gas, it'll stand right up." But, I had on those damn titanium shelled kneesliders from Motrax and they are very grabby when they wear down. They grabbed the asphault so hard it pulled my leg back and I couldn't do anything. The bike spun around and stopped about 2 feet later with me still holding on, still in my lane. No one was around and I had it back up and going in about 10 seconds. Skinned my knee up a little bit, but I'm ok momma!
Otherwise, pretty low traffic last weekend. I guess the holiday the previous weekend, along with the sketchy weather and police presence all came together to make for some nice riding...even during the busy hours.
This weekend there are a few small groups on the calendar, and the FZ1 rally. Hope everyone has a good time.
On to the highlights!
