So Sorry!
Two things...first, my apologies to all of the people who watched that pathetic Superbikes show on Speed. All they showed was a bunch of squids doing wheelies, stoppies, and burnouts in the middle of busy streets. I don't even care if we're not featured on there, but I assume the Deals Gap footage will be on some future episode.
Second, the update will be a day late this week, as we have lost power at the farm and Lori and I are staying the night at her parent's house. Power is supposed to be back on tomorrow, and I'll have the site updated by Thursday morning if all goes well.

whoo hoo, nothing like replacing responsible, objective journalism with hooligans acting like jackasses in public. I'm shure this will give motorcyclist that much needed boost in the public eye. But we still love you Darryl and we love Lori more.
it's called lane splitting and there's nothing wrong with it at stop lights. they're also allowed to lane split in traffic jams at speeds 20mph or less. Those are the dangerous times. I didn't watch the show as I don't have speed but would like to see for myself how bad it really was...
I didn't see it; was the show really that bad? Would the public perception of motorcyclists be any better if, say, they had instead showed guys tearing up the Gap with their knees down? Just trying to be fair. Stunting gives motorcyclists a bad rep, but I've never heard about anyone getting killed doing it. Unfortunately that can't be said about riders ripping through the curves.
i'm going against the flow here, and in my first blog posting no less.
if the show's about San Fran and Rat bikes are a part of it, show it how the locals see it. if it's about stunters, show it how they ride it. if it's about The Gap, show it how the locals do it.
i don't need more interviews, talk-shows, analysis or made-up drama. i watch as much racing as i can and most anything about motorcycles. i personally wasn't thrilled with the show, but definitely don't want it cancelled after one episode. how about we lobby for refinement of what could be a break from the ho-hum, but ask for a little balance, responsibility, truth and consequences?
$10 says the burnout/cop scene was staged or faked.
anyhow, thanks killboy for a great site and for doing a fantastic job highlighting a spectacular place to ride. a buddy and me trucked the bikes down from MN for a couple days last fall and we can't wait to get back, all because of this site.
a.s.
I'm unhappy with Speed... to say the least. Their LeMans coverage sucked and now this disaster.
So I've taked Buster's advice (Above) and written to Speed and all of their sponsors.
Here's my letter to Dunlop:
Dunlop Tires
Gentlemen,
The new show "Super Bikes," on the Speed Channel and supported by your advertising dollars, reinforces a terrible and unfair image of the motorcycling community. I resent it, and everything connected to it… and this includes your advertising support. Why? To cite just a few reasons:
• The host doing a “burnout” on a public road is both dangerous and irresponsible!
• Cutting through traffic and doing wheelies on public streets is both inexcusable and illegal!
What is wrong with the Speed Channel? Why are they showing, and why are you sponsoring, such terribly irresponsible behaviors?
Is selling your product, regardless of the harm the show does, really what you want to do?
Motorcyclists have enough trouble with the real street hooligans and their behavior; now you are supporting a show highlighting and glorifying it!
I am writing to inform Speed, Dunlop and every one of the show’s advertisers, that if you / they continue to sponsor such trash, I will never again purchase your / their products and services.
Speed should be ashamed, and if you don’t stop sponsoring such irresponsible television, I will never again purchase your product / service.
Sincerely,
