Thoughtful comment. Two responses:
1. I would say that we (I) hold sportbike riders to a higher standard, in part because they know better... or ought to.
2. The Dragon is probably the worst place I know of to show a newby the great scenery or the capabilities of a sportbike.
My .02. The dude was doing one of a couple of things:
#1. Trying to make a girl happy by giving her a ride on his bike. In which case I'd think the girl would think more of him if he made her put on some safety gear. But judging by his lack of safety gear it probably didn't cross his mind.
#2. A more likely possibility, judging by her having her own helmet, is that he was either giving her a ride home from work or they were out for a joy ride. I can't think of any Hooter's locations relatively close to the Dragon so that first one's a slim possibility. If they're just out for a joy ride then it's a pretty sad sight.
But what it all boils down to is this...
