Hey there is a camera. I think I will ride beyond my limits and the limits of my bike.

I don't think it's fair to claim the guy was riding over his head if you don't know the details of the situation. That could have been his normal cruising pace. And I doubt he was dragging any hard parts on that particular bike. Sometimes shit just happens.

Very nice shooting, Keith.

Tyler...guilty conscience? hehe, j/k! Magical disapearing act, now you see a green bike...next you won't! He's got juevos! :)

Ooooh, in this shot you can see the tire turned in slightly.

We always give the crash photos to them.

I probably can speak for everyone else when I say there is oil throughout the highway on the way to the overlook and back! Trying to place blame on a well respected photographer is not the smart thing to do. I have seen sports cars blow engines and lose oil plugs. I have seen the local salvage yard guy and his pick up trick driving through the gap at late hours. Rumor has it, he's dumped oil out his window in frustration of the motorcycles. Please don't come to the conclusion that a photographer who makes profit from clean UPRIGHT riders, who GIVES the pictures to those that have wrecked on camera would have anything to do with his wreck. I'm sure the #1 reason that motorcycles wreck near anyone taking photographs is their inability to focus on the road and to keep within their riding abilities. Everyone loves hamming it up for any pictures or spectators on the side of the highway. **NOTE** I'm not referring to this rider as being inexperienced, I do not know his riding abilties...From the pictures he's more skilled than I am, just an unfortunate ACCIDENT.**

It's a conspiracy. The man is out to get you.

You know we always hear the same story every time someone gets caught on film. Oh he/she is the greatest rider on the planet and knows everything about riding.

The fact is if you ride that piece of road long enough you will make a mistake "or someone else will make it for you" and you will go down.

If you are lucky it will be outside the cameras view. Your buddy the master of motorcycles just got caught on film.

Maybe the oil is from this incident:

That's a pretty shitty thing to imply Evil E. Go back and look at your video, that oil trail covers the majority of the Gap in both lanes. It's pretty damn visible and not that difficult to avoid.

Clay Blancett said...

Actually I think Evil e might be on to something. Oil out front from the photog = more accidents, more accidents on the front page = more hits on the website, and just think about all that under-utilized ad space all down the right side of the page... Eh, eh?

Keith Norrod aka "Turn 3" said...

If "Evil E" thought the photographer had something to do with the oil in the road he didn't say anything to me. I was the one who took the pics, ran over to help, sat with the bike for atleast an hour while they went to get their truck and didn't shoot while helping them get the bike out. My girlfriend and I hung out and talked to them afterwards and everything seemed fine. I don't set out to create crashes, however I do carry a broom with me to clean up the road including the mud/leaves that were left after pulling the bike out.

hey I was just kidding before!

evil e,
You imply the oil was placed there to create accidents that might be caught on film.

I will not imply, I will state:
I think you are a freakin' idiot.

Claybee,
you give him a good run for his money.

Brian

Brian A said...

OK claybee,
I see your followup post now.
COOL!
But I still think E is an idiot.

Darryl Cannon aka "killboy" said...

Evil E emailed me with a long, sincere apology, so ease up on her. She just got a little defensive at everyone picking at her friend and said something she regrets.

All is good...maybe we can learn a little something from it.

Darryl Cannon aka "killboy" said...

Oh, and she can't post up here for some technical reason.

Brian A said...

Ok,
E is no he.
E is a she.
She said sorry.
So is me.
Sorry.
E.

All's well now?
Group hug!!

I did about 6 passes the same day of that crash both before and after it occurred, and I can tell you the oil was not fresh, nor did it pose any sort of traction problems. If you're looking to dissect the cause, I would rule that one out of the equation.

"I must say, he wasn't riding beyond his limits when this crash occurred but we often do. In fact, all good riders will push the limits."

Wow...

Keith Norrod aka "Turn 3" said...

Sorry about the mix up, I did think Evil E was the guy on the black bike. After all we do to keep the road clean it kinda pissed me off when someone suggests we may have had something to do with. In the riders defense I don't think he was riding above his limits. I thought it was maybe a combination of cold tires and whatever was on the road. Yes, many other people hit that oil? line through the day but he seemed to use it as his line.

I would love to see the on board video from your bike Evil E..

Record # of comments is 100+ (102?) for the collage of the guy hitting the SUV head-on earlier this season. No posting bogus comments just to get the numbers up.

Speaking of numbers, we are about to click over 2 million page loads since we started the counter in February this year. Where's the champaign?

Hey keith,I got that gallon of used motor oil you asked me to save for you. What do you want me to do with it? Obviously I'm kidding.
