If BCSO would have been doing their job to being with, this wouldn't have happened.
He tried to keep as far right as possible. E for effort I guess.
Too bad the whole rig didn't roll down the mountain like a bike does. Might teach him a lesson.
Ticket, ticket, ticket!
Do they get a ticket when this happens?
I was escorting him, and no, he did not get a ticket. Nothing illegal about driving a truck on a US HWY. While BCSO or THP should have escorted him, they weren't obligated to. Would have been nice, but they didn't.
I'm just a big of a proponent of the Gap being somewhat of a playground as the next guy, but trucks have just as much a right to the road as slow motorcyclists.
Frustrating? Yes. Part of life? Guess so.
Oh, and by the way, the driver was super nice and didn't realize what he had gotten himself into. He said he'd never come back this way again (even before he got stuck).
I agree with austin that trucks do have a right to use the road. However, they also have a responsibility to obey the laws and the failure to stay on their side of the road is a ticketable offense.
I'm pleased that he was a nice guy and that he isn't planning to return, but crossing the double yellow deserves a ticket.
Stupid is as stupid does! How is blocking the roadway not illegal?
Trucks have rights, but, there are one-way streets and weight-limit streets and in Chicago there are restrictions in truck lengths and heights depending on the road.
It's just common sense to restrict vehicles that are too long to travel safely on any particular road.
Quit bitchin' about it here and take it up your highway department/lawmakers. Yes I think this road should be restricted. But until people excersise the ONE power they have nothing will happen here. VOTE
