I shot some video while I was out there Saturday...

I tried this boom-mounted location, but the vibrations didn't jive with the camera. The side-mount worked out well though, as you can see in the video posted above.

What kind of heli do you fly? I want to get started in the hobby, but don't know which to buy? Any suggestions?

Well this is a E-Flite Blade 400 3D...a great kit for the price, but too advanced and unstable for a first heli. I would recommend starting off with the E-flite Blade MCX micro indoor heli ($129 for ready-to-fly kit with controller) and a computer simulator program if possible. It'll give you the chance to get used to the reversed controls when the heli is flying toward you (which I still haven't) without crashing so many times. (which I have ;) I use the E-flite "FS One" simulator software, which is really good and only $99 with the USB controller, but the Great Planes "Real Flight G4" software is way more sophisticated and about $200.

Hope that helps, and sorry about the new addiction. =)

Darryl,
Old rc plane flying trick...turn your body in the direction the heli is flying and then look over your shoulder. All controls stay normal. But your neck gets sore.

Thanks rd...I had heard about that technique, but still haven't tried it. Funny, I can fly the MCX all over the place in any direction without much problem, but the "big" 400 is so intimidating, I can't bring myself to nose-in flying just yet.
