Hand controls !

Wheelie bar no- deployable out riggers yes.

I really admire that.

Wonder how that actuates??? Sweet set-up though!

I'm lost. Hand controls? Deployable out-riggers? The handlebars look normal to me. What am I missing there? And deployable outriggers for what? He doesn't appear to have a handicap. Man I must be dense.

See how his thighs and feet are strapped to the bike? He's a paraplegic... living life to the fullest.

Also note how thin his thighs look. No muscle tone. Note sure how the setup works. Don't care as long as it is safe for him and he enjoys it. Ride on.

Oh wow. I thought those straps were just for his boots and pucks. How friggin cool is that? Good for him. Thanks for the explanation y'all.

I've seen the same setup on a green ZX-10 shown on Superbikes. Myrtle Beach or Daytona Bike week episode I believe. Could be the same bike and rider?

He either deploys the riggers with a switch or they are speed sensitive.

Someone had done the same thing long ago for a 900rr.

miami: You can make one comprehensive post at the end, and delete the others using the little trashcan icon. It leaves a residual note, but I knock those off too...no trouble at all.

That's my buddy Dave. Here is some bike-cam video from that day. 101 MB video found here:

http://shamonkie.com/video/dave/

He is paralyzed from the chest down and just started riding again after 18 years.

The actuator is on handlebar mounted button control. He also has button up/down electric shifter.

That is my brother Dave. He and I were in a wreck back in 1990, and I think he's been working on this plan in his mind since then. He basically designed and built it all by himself. There are 2 buttons on the right grip to move the wheels up and down, and 2 on the left to shift up and down. It is pretty cool to see him out there again.

Thanks for the nice words about him.

Amazing! Ride on!

Hey thats me!
Thanks for the nice words guys.
As was mentioned, I'm paralyzed at the T4 level which is mid chest so I use this setup along with an electric shifter.
I've got some detailed info about the setup here in case anyone may know someone wanting to try the same thing - http://www.z28rr.com/car/project/bike.html

I checked out your pics. Very clean/professional install. Nice....Very Nice!

How difficult is it to start/stop at off camber stop lights and stop signs? Or do you just slowly roll up to the light keeping your balance without putting the outriggers down?

I have a friend that was paralized last year who may be interested in this setup.

Thanks for sharing! Take care!

The off camber intersections are tricky. I put the wheels almost all the way down, then right before stopping I put them the rest of the way down. It wants to steer the bike down the slope of the intersection if then wheels touch down when going too fast.

Starting off at an angle takes a little practice but isn't too bad.

Send me email at daveb4c@gmail.com if I can be of any help. I'd be more then happy to answer any questions about it. I know I had a ton of questions myself when I was getting this setup together and figuring out how to ride again.
