They can typically stop quicker, and carry more corner speed due to their lighter weight and high ground clearance. They don't have the acceleration, but it doesn't hurt ya SO much on a tight road like the Gap.
Plus they are really easy to ride...you can't help but smile. And yeah, if you crash it...usually not a big deal.
Well the Suzuki DRZ400SM is kinda low on the motard totem poll...no offense to those who ride 'em. They are a little heavy and down on power, but dead reliable and fairly upgradeable.
The popular weapon of choice right now would probably be a nice KTM. They are light, damn strong motors, and a decent aftermarket. Huskies are good too...very light and pretty strong, but not much of an aftermarket and service is spotty.
