Weekly Update - May 24, 2006
Photos from last week are online in our store here.
It was a fairly wet weekend, but I guess that's to be expected in a rain forest in spring. No crazy police activity, and no major accidents. We've been told that there was an collision today between a bike and semi on the Gap. Rider apparantly has a broken leg. I guess someone will have to die before the DOT will take the semi thing serious up there.
My boy Josh K. informed me about this proposed race track in Oak Ridge. I thought you might be interested.
On to the highlights!

Tuesday had awesome weather for riding. The bikes were polite when they passsed. The problem was the trucks. I was behind three in the two passes I had a chance to make :-(
How is the guy on the Gixer? Couldn't quite figure that one out. Anita must have gotten my Jinx since she dropped her bike when we stopped to help.
There are mandatory pull off and be educated areas for trucks and trailers for steep grades. Seems a shame that simular places don't exist for "Alternate route suggested" roads. Putting up a sign, after the last place to turn around does nothing. We rode many alternate suggested roads near the Gap and Boone this weekend. Saw trucks on all of them. Heard complaints from bikes and cars alike about the dangers.
We were up there on Friday May 26th. Great stuff. The roads around that area are the best. It was our first time up there, not many roads like that down here in Texas..I ordered some pictures today.. again great stuff
