UNFORTIONALY THE STATE OF TN. DOESN'T HAVE A MINIMAL AGE REGUIREMENT, BUT THEY DO REGUIRE THAT YOU HAVE PROPER FITTING HEAD GEAR. IT WILL BE MINY YEARS BEFORE THAT KID FITS THAT HELMENT. LOOK AT THE GAP FROM HIS RIGHT EAR TO THE HELMENT. THATS JUST PLAIN STUPID DUMBASS.

Rush said it best.

Go get yourself fixed.

It isn't about your brother the greatest biker on the planet who has arms of steal and a head to match.

People get hurt out there all the time because of someone else’s mistake. I can see your brother the brilliant rocket scientist being interviewed on the news after killing his grandchild saying that it was all someone else’s fault.

He's an idiot for doing it and you’re an idiot for taking up for him.

I bet if there were no helmet law neither of them would be wearing one. Not that the one the child is wearing would do any good.

I was In front of him and we never got faster then 25mph. you want to see a idiot look at the pitchers at the store at the end of the dragon that are hanging up, or better yet just look at the tree!!!"

For fuck's sake, are you serious? Dude, there aren't enough spaces on this web page to explain how wrong that is. Your brother could be the best rider in the world but he is NOT the only person on the road, he's not in command of all the road hazards and he sure as spit can't predict all... and I mean ALL... the shit that can go wrong.

Good rider or not, that's a dumbass move.

Many of us grew up in a time with less laws, and lived.
There is more traffic, bikes are faster, and we have better gear, that most can afford.
Safe riding and good gear is a choice.
Bad stuff still happens, but we now can improve our odds.
The child on this bike can't make that choice.
My children won't be coming with me this year. The distraction would affect my riding, and could increase the risk to them and others.

So if "IT IS NONE OF ANY OF YOUR BUISNESS WHAT THIS MAN DOES WITH HIS GRANDCHILD! IT IS HIS CHOICE NOT CHILD SERVICES OR ANY OTHER PERSONS RIGHT TO TELL HIM WHAT TO DO" why do we even have child protective services?

Being a dad of a 7 year old son this is a very touchy subject for me. I'm at the gap most every weekend and my son is very familiar with bikes but there is NO way I would ride him through here on one.

I took the "pitcher" but didn't even realize it was a kid until they came back through with the kid in the middle of the driver and passanger on the back.

The driver doesn't have to be going fast to have a deadly accident..Most of us know about the accident on Clinton highway in which the bike was rear ended at a traffic light and a rider was killed.

"Like it or not, this used to be a common sight. Before we had helmet laws, leather cap on a kid was normal. I've seen it before many times. Kids riding, sometimes sleeping, on the tank of a Duo-Glide.
I cant wait to see what kind of derogatory things you guys can call me. I'm glad I was brought up before the days of car seats and political correctness."

From reading these posts it sounds like this guy was dangling his kid over a shark tank with a ham bone tied around his neck. I grew up on the gas tank of a Harley. I rode with my dad when I was old enough to hold on.

Fact is, this guy DOES have the choice to take his son along with him. It's none of our damn business what he does with his own family members. How would it be any different in three years when the kid is a little bigger and can ride on the back? Has he miraculously gone from 'babykiller' to 'good dad riding with his son'? Hell no. Is it dangerous? HELL YES. But so are most of the things you remember from your childhood. I get really tired of people that forget that 20 years ago child seats were optional, airbags were only on luxury cars, and the backseats only had lapbelts. People used to drive cars back then and shockingly, most of them lived.

Riding with my dad are some of my most cherished memories of the guy. It's because of all those gas tank miles that I love motorcycles as much as I do today. So before you crucify this guy for taking his son out with him, keep in mind how many of you have ridden with a family member of ANY age. They are just as valuable at 16 as they are at 3.

Noodle that one.
