Weekend Update - May 27-29, 2005
Photos from last week are uploading into Tha Store right now.
Wasn't terribly busy Friday or Saturday, but Sunday was pretty crowded...figured it would be. Police were nice to us, only coming out when there was an accident. Sunday some pickup truck was driving in the wrong lane and side-swiped a cruiser and kept going. Look through our Odd Shots from that day and see if you spot the offender if you were involved in the accident and know what to look for. We are working to catalog bad drivers and put them in the Odd Shots category (with the police cruisers ;) for just such an occasion. We try to get the license plate in the shot as well.
Several groups scheduled for this weekend, including the Subarus, Audi TTs, and the SV Rally. Y'all play nice with each other and please be considerate. It'll make things much more fun and safer for everyone.
On to the highlights! Again, it was hard to narrow it down to just these shots...

WE WERE THERE FOR THE ONE LANE CROSSING. WE WERE RIGHT BEHIND THE BIKE THAT WAS HIT THERE WAS NO TRUCK THAT CROSSED LANES, CONTACT ME AT RNATALI@SCCOAST.NET
Anybody know about a bad accident on the Skyway where one biker crossed the double yellow and took another biker's leg off?
I was wondering the same thing about the Skyway accident. I've been looking for updates or even local news reports and haven't seen anything.
I was too just behind the accident. Guy on the bike crossed the line and hit the truck. Black marks on the road show exactly what happened. It was not a pickup truck it was an SUV but as I said if you look at the marks on the road 3.8 miles up from Deal's Gap you will see the bike slid into the other lane.
The SUV did stop but it was a ways up the road. It is all in the police report so there is no need for a man hunt.
And when the pictures come out I could tell you exactly which one it was because I was right behind it.
Thanks, but we were inquiring about a separate incident over the weekend. I heard a biker on the Cherahola Skyway crossed the center line and hit a cruiser? And the cruiser rider lost a leg? Does anyone know about that crash?
Some friends of mine and I were on the Skyway and arrived at the scene shortly after it had happend. It happend at the famed/infamous mile marker 10 curve. From what I understand a VTX rider took the curve going too fast, got on the brakes too hard and went into the southbound lane hitting a touring bike head on. The VTX rider was thrown into the guard rail and was hurt badly (I've also heard he lost a leg) while the touring bike rider sustained hip and other injuries, but not life-threatening. Lucky for both riders that the first group to arrive were a group of riders that consisted of sherrifs, emt's and first response personell. One of the EMT guys actually rode to the hospital with the VTX rider. Other than that I haven't heard anything else about the condition of either rider.
do you think if i get a killboy sticker i can drive bad and not get put in the odd catagory??
