Cheoah River in the news

The local papers are running articles about the turnout for the first scheduled release last Saturday. They say that over 500 boaters hit the water. This online article pretty well sums it up. The next release is next Saturday, October 1, then the final for the year will be November 2. (Wednesday) The schedule for next year is online here.

A few tidbits

Short notice, but there is a benefit auction Saturday for the victims of Katrina at Edfinancial, located next to Bailey's sportsbar on Kingston Pike in Knoxville. A Gap enthusiast chick who works there thought it would be cool to see some bikers represent. ;)

Also forgot to mention the groups that were on the scene last weekend. The Heritage Springer Owners Association had members ride in from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, and Canada! There were also the FJR Eastern Owners, Intense Performance Mazda Club of South Florida, and R6Messagenet.com

Weekend Update - September 16-18, 2005

Friday was a washout, but Saturday was crazy busy. The Gap was packed, and the kayakers hit the Cheoah River which runs right along 129 just a couple of miles south of Deal's Gap. It was a pretty fun show and something different for us to check out. We are becoming the playground of the southeast.

Keith and David took most of the Gap shots, while Jacob and I shot the rafting Saturday and cleaned up the accident scene/played around Sunday. Great job this weekend team! =)

Gap photos are uploading into the store so they should be there for viewing within the next day. On to the highlights!

Peek-a-boo

Such a sad site. Luckily everyone was ok. Oddly the Porsche was not involved with the FJR...they were two seperate incidents in the same curve at nearly the same time. The FJR ran wide and hit a Toyota Titan head-on. No injuries.

It stopped traffic in both lanes for a bit while they loaded up the vehicles.

The folks hanging around the accident scene did a great job handling the fluids on the road. They scattered dirt/sand around and we came along later and swept it away. There were a LOT of parts left from the motorcycle/truck impact. Let's try to keep the area beauty in mind and clean up our messes when things get under control.

Crazy spinners on the Mustang...I think he's from around Robbinsville.

Ya know, guys like this are the first ones that bystanders will call crazy, but the last ones to be out of control crashing. Look at him...he's totally relaxed. One of the benefits to getting a knee down, you can just feel where everything is at.

Funky front brake setup...it looks like it has a caliper and disc, but enclosed with a specialized wheel and air ducts. Carbon?
