Weekly Update - November 30, 2006

Black is beautiful!

Black Friday that is. (Ever notice how things that are bad tend to be prefaced with "black"...Black Ice, The Black Plague, Black-Balled, Black-Eyed Peas...the band, not the peas...mmm...peas) So yeah Friday was awesome...perfect weather, little traffic...couldn't ask for much more. Rest of the weekend was more of the same really.

I guess we're about to get rained on ALOT, but the weekend is looking clear and cool, so we'll see. And remember, next weekend is the little killboy.com kar rally thing. To quote last week's mention:

We're planning on another Killboy Kar Rally this December 9/10th, so spread the word on your forum of choice. May just do one on the second weekend of each month, December-February. These are gatherings for all types of cars, which is pretty unique because so many groups that come here are just that, specific groups of car types. This has a little of everything, and it's sort of a car show/gathering that I would prefer to go to...forget the blingy rims and suicide doors, it's all about driving well and performance. In my mind, the Datsun B210 ex-racecar wins Best-of-Show...ya know? Bikes are still welcome of course, it's usually just too cold to ride.

Oh, and shots from last weekend are online in Tha Store.

Weekly Update - November 22, 2006

We only shot Saturday last week. Those photos are online in Tha Store, along with all of the others that we've shot over the past 3 years. And remember, Christmas is a busy time for us, so get those orders in early!

Forecast for this week/weekend is clear and unusually warm, so we plan to be out there shooting and playing while avoiding the shopping crowd. Come join us!

We're planning on another Killboy Kar Rally this December 9/10th, so spread the word on your forum of choice. May just do one on the second weekend of each month, December-February. We got a few shots from last week, and a lot of the dogs. This is the time of year when I start easing you all into the non-Gap stuff...for your own good. =)

It was pretty cold/nasty most of last week...

Weekly Update - November 15, 2005

Photos from last week are uploaded to Tha Store.

It was beautiful and warm Wed/Thurs/Fri, then got soggy and cold Saturday. Traffic was pretty light, so it was nice to get out and play a little bit ourselves. This weekend is looking sunny and cool, so we should be hanging out one more time. The DGMR store is closed though, so watch your gas needle and plan on finding food in surrounding areas.

On to the highlights!

Santa Clause came out to the mountain. Nothing but naughty kids here...move along. ;)

The Evo gang showed up for their annual thing. There were a lot of first-timers in the group, and some sketchy driving at first, but we had a talk and they were driving a lot better after the first day. Apologies to any problems caused.

Things got pretty soggy Saturday, making for some cool shots of the few that got out to play.

Tyler wasn't too bothered by it. ;)

Good size Corvette group rolled through.

A few other sporty cars were enjoying the clear roads.

Hot. Rod.

Weekly Update - November 8, 2006

All photos from last week are uploading to Tha Store here.

Another cool weekend, but otherwise beautiful conditions and low traffic. It was hard to sit there and shoot, I wanted to go play so bad. This week/weekend are looking really nice, with temps in the mid 70s! The Evo guys are having their rally...I hope everyone keeps their vehicles under control.

Winter is coming and we're looking forward to the break. I'm sure there will be more nice days here and there, but we may not be out there shooting every single day like we have been.

Now's also a good time to start dropping hints for those killboy.com photos in your stocking! We'll try to stay on top of orders the best we can, but things get pretty hectic right before Christmas.

Leaf Watch 2006 - Well it's about over. As you can see, most of the leaves have fallen, or are packing their 'chutes. The unusually cold temps and high winds made short work of things. You may notice the frost on the moutain tops in the distance. (Dam power lines!)

The Porsche folks were out in force having fun and looking good. Thanks for playing nice!

Interesting shade of brown.

Ernie digs the curves. (he's even leaning into it!)

Floorboards are cheap anyway.

Maybe trees do something for him? Nah, it's the curves!

Lincoln was testing a FREAKTON of new MKZ (Zephyr) cars. Available with all-wheel-drive, 6-speed transmission, and all-aluminum V6. Not too shabby for a Lincoln!

It came from the woods

Smokey Moutain HD dragon truck

Rock On!

Shaw boys having fun too

4-person go-kart...with a roof.

Symmetry

Awesome driving!

Not-so-awesome driving.

I'm sure everyone appreciated driving through the mess, especially the bikes. (we cleaned it up)

This is where complaints start. Instead of forcing a bad pass, maybe...try turning around?

Imagine what the people in the other car are thinking.

It amazes me that we still have point out this driving-in-the-wrong-lane-is-bad thing over and over.

She spotted a quarter.

He saw it too!

That there's how ye POST to ride a cruiser!

We saw a few street rods from a near-by car show.

Sharp shot, cool reflection.

Look at that hotty!

I wonder what kind of motor they're putting in those things these days...

She's kinda got that spare tire thing going around the waist huh? =P

Hand warmers?

Mean Kawi Lean

Ah my eyes!

Turn Right!

Pink - It's the new black.

No pictures please. Thank you.

Until next week...Shalom Y'all! =)

Update Quickie

Well it was awefully pretty out this past weekend, and strangely quiet. The leaves have almost all fallen, and you can really see ahead nicely again.

For those of you into that MySpace thing or just like bragging about your ride and checking out others, you might dig this Motortopia thing. They're saying it's like MySpace for your garage. You can add me to your friends list, join our little Deals Gap group, and vote on challenges between 2 rides. I'm losing to a Camaro right now! =(

Those Damn Sportbikers

Fox Atlanta ran an interesting piece on their nightly news about how motorcyclists are ruining...everything.

Part 2 is online now. Notice the bogus on-board clip they show of a Hayabusa accelerating to OVER 200mph withing about 4 seconds. They also show a lot of people passing their camera van, but you have to wonder how many of those people were waved around.

I'm not saying that some of this "reporting" isn't justified, but it's so one-sided and obviously sensational.

Cheoah Rafting Photos

Jacob got out today and shot the rafters on the Cheoah Release. I'm proofing the shots now and they should be online in our store later today.

Weekly Update - November 1, 2006

Photos from last week are uploading to Tha Store. We're starting to pick-and-choose the days we shoot, so we may not be out there every day. We'll try to get out and shoot as much as we can though!

Last weekend was pretty nasty...it rained hard Friday, and the road was still damp for the early part of Saturday. Sunday was fairly nice, and traffic was low. The Blount County Sheriff's Department brought out over a dozen vehicles to patrol the 11 mile section of road...seemed like a big waste of recources to me. Let's all remember to do all we can to keep the complaint level low. Of course the noisiest wheel gets the oil first, and some people will just complain about anything, most of the time exaggerating or flat out lying, so just do what you can to keep tempers down. Give them a friendly wave if they let you by (or even if they don't) and don't let it be confused for a middle-finger or frustration.

This weekend is looking to be clear and a little cool. Hope to see some of you out there!

Leaf Watch 2006 - Roads are staying pretty clear, but the leaves are definitely falling.

Max longs for the day he can rustle up some cattle.

Following Rick during the last pass of his 24 hour Deals Gap ride.

Purdy cruiser shot...dig the helmet too.

He can do it with his eyes closed

Colorful backdrops this time of year

So many angles and lines, it just draws your eye all around the bike taking all of them in.

Blinded by the light...

Come on out and enjoy the scenery, just be careful and remember that operating your vehicle is the top priority.

There was a nice little group of Lotus Elises out playing during the week...

These little sub-2000 pound roadsters are probably some of the most capable cars on the planet right now.

Unfortunately some of them also took home "Worst driving of the week" award. Congrats!

The rare Lotus Exige. Lots of money, no sense.

Of course we weren't without motorcyclists doing some of the same.

Cool FJR shot

Some days it's really nice, some it's a bit chilly this time of year. Keep an eye on the forecast and come prepared.

Can't get that pesky face shield to stay down? Try the duct tape mod!

Looking good!

"...and off to the left you'll see a guy taking our picture for some reason..."

Cool hair!

You know, it's not nice to point.

The license plate is so appropriate

Rock on!

Until next week, be sure all those appendages are INSIDE the car before shutting the door!
