After hearing the stock exhaust, I thought it was the worst sounding bike I'd ever heard. Even their commercials make the bike sound pathetic to me. This was the first one I had heard with aftermarket exhaust, and let me tell you point blank: Best sounding sportbike on the street. It sounded like a V4 from an old V-Max or something...just awesome hotrod audio.

I was there on one of the days he was riding this thing. It did sound mean!! Was impressive.
Instead of jumping thru all these hoops to emulate a V4 WTF dont they just build one. Its obviously the best engine configuration.
stephen it is but its hard to package. the aprilia V4 is pretty good but looks very bulky up to a inline four.
The firing order on the R1 is the same degrees as the old RC-30!!

What an idiot, everyone knows that sandals give you a much better feel for the brakes than Crocs(tm)
